Eric Peterson, Ph.D.https://bios.inl.gov/Lists/Researcher/DisplayOverrideForm.aspx?ID=190Eric Peterson, Ph.D.Dr. Eric Peterson is the founder and longtime leader of Idaho National Laboratory’s Process Science & Technology Business Area. He leads the Recycling Node of the REMADE Institute, a National Network of Manufacturing Institute that is led by Rochester Institute of Technology, and led the Recycling and Reuse Focus Area for the Critical Materials Institute, an Energy Innovation Hub sponsored by Department of Energy and led by Ames National Laboratory. A Directorate Laboratory Fellow at INL, he has 30 years’ experience performing research on polymeric and related materials, with an emphasis on understanding inter- and intra-molecular interactions that lead to interesting structure property relationships in polymers and solid-state materials. He did his undergraduate work in chemistry and biology at Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota, and earned his doctorate from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. He did postdoctoral training in polymers at University of Missouri-Rolla and solid phase inorganic chemistry at Ames National Laboratory He is a two-time recipient of the INL Lifetime Achievement Award, the DOE Bright Light Award, and the DOE Energy 2000 Award.<div class="ExternalClass5FA6FF511F6F4814AEA9D7B1158796FC"><p>Ph.D., Chemistry - Montana State University</p><p>B.S., Chemistry - Concordia College</p><p>B.A., Biology - Concordia College</p></div><div class="ExternalClass6BBA8A8E92D54391B085248C758E1717"><div>Accelerating materials development and deployment</div><div>Structure property processing performance relationships</div><div>Membrane separations - transport phenomena and applications</div><div>Strategic and critical materials</div><div>Science and technology - policy emphasizing science and education for the U.S. workforce</div></div><div class="ExternalClassDBD217C7F1A34D04A06286C57D8C67A7"><p>Member of the American Chemical Society, Inorganic Chemistry Division and the Engineering and Industrial Chemistry Division<br>Member of American Institute of Chemical Engineers<br>Member of North American Membrane Society </p></div>Critical Materials;Advanced Manufacturing and Intelligent Systemshttps://bios.inl.gov/BioPhotos/Eric%20Peterson.jpgDeputy Director, Center for Advanced Energy Studies (CAES) CAES Research Partnerships Critical Materials Institute, Focus Area Lead, Efficient Use and Recycling<div class="ExternalClassCF7AB776ADB64C43A17CF44EFBC6EC8B"><p>INL Lifetime Acheivement Award (acknowledgement of 10 Patents), December 2008 <br>INEEL Lifetime Achievement Award (acknowledgement of 5 Patents), March 2003 <br>DOE Bright Light Award, 2000<br>DOE Energy @ 23 Award, 2000<br>United States Department of Energy Distinguished Lecturer, 1996-1997</p></div>eric.peterson@inl.gov
