David Andrs, Ph.D.
R&D Engineer
Research Areas: Modeling and Simulation; Thermal Hydraulics
Biography:
David Andrs obtained a Master of Science and Ph.D. in computer science in 2003 and 2007, respectively, at the University of West Bohemia, Czech Republic under advisor V. Matousek. In 2007, David started his graduate work at the University of Texas at El Paso, which he finished in 2008 with a Master of Science degree under advisor P. Solin. Then, he continued to a post-doctoral position at the University of Nevada, Reno under the same advisor, developing hp-adaptivity for finite element method on irregular meshes in 3D. In April 2010, he joined the Fuel Modeling and Simulation department at INL, where he worked on the MOOSE framework. In 2011, David obtained the Laboratory Director's Award for his work on the MOOSE framework. Since 2014, David has been working as a lead software developer on RELAP-7—the new generation nuclear reactor system safety analysis code. David also played a key role in software design of Sockeye (1D heat-pipe simulation tool) and DireWolf (heat-pipe cooled microreactor simulation tool).
