Biography:
Michael Moorehead received his BSE in materials science and engineering at Arizona State University in 2016 and his M.S. and Ph.D. in nuclear engineering and engineering physics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2018 and 2021, respectively. During his graduate studies, Michael developed systems and experimental methodologies to enable the high-throughput synthesis, irradiation, and characterization of high-entropy alloys by leveraging additive manufacturing and automated control systems, while also working as an U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission fellow and spending summers at INL as an advanced characterization intern examining irradiated materials. Currently, Michael is a Russell L. Heath Distinguished Postdoctoral Researcher at INL developing new advanced manufacturing capabilities to accelerate the discovery and development of irradiation-resistant materials for next-generation nuclear reactors.
