Biography:

Dr. Michael Norato’s primary focus is directing research and development of advanced technologies for used nuclear fuel management and recycling, as well as other chemical separation applications.

Norato has 21 years of experience in chemical separation technologies involving spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste, as well as experience in commercial nuclear industry regulation and nuclear facility decommissioning. He holds B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in chemical engineering from Syracuse University. His background includes  leadership positions at the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Environmental Management (DOE-EM), the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL).
