Biography:

Dr. Nathan Huft is a materials engineer in Idaho National Laboratory’s Materials and Properties Performance organization. His research expertise includes welding metallurgy, solidification behavior, additive manufacturing (especially wire and arc methods) welding processes and applications, and numerical modeling. Before joining INL he was a part-time foundry engineer at Montana Precision Products and an adjunct professor at Montana Technological University, where he earned his doctorate in materials science. He holds a bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, and a master’s in general engineering from Montana Tech. His professional memberships include American Welding Society (AWS) and The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society (TMS).
