Research Areas:

Biography:
Dr. Mary Ellen Case is a researcher at Idaho National Laboratory studying the metallization of rare earth elements. She earned her doctorate in chemistry from the University of Idaho, where she studied the solvent extraction of rare earth elements from end-of-life products. She has experience in traditional and non-traditional solvent extraction, supercritical fluid extraction, metal complexation reactions, and biodiesel production. She holds a bachelor’s in chemistry from Boise State University, with a minor in environmental sciences. In 2018 she participated in a Critical Materials Institute student exchange to foster collaboration between INL and Colorado School of Mines.

Education:

Ph.D., Chemistry, University of Idaho

TALISMAN Summer School,  Actinide Chemistry for Future Fuel Cycle

B.S., Chemistry, Minor in Environmental Sciences, Boise State University
