Biography:
Dr. Michael Reichenberger is a radiation measurement scientist for Idaho National Laboratory, providing support in daily operations of the Advanced Test Reactor to ensure the reliable functionality of safety-critical radiation measurements. He earned his bachelor's in mechanical engineering and is doctorate in nuclear engineering from Kansas State University. As a post-doctoral research associate at KSU he oversaw research related to the continued development and deployment of Micro-Pocket FIssion Detectors, including fabrication and testing and technical reporting for peer-reviewed publications. He was a Nuclear Engineering Graduate Student Intern at INL from May 2016 to September 2017, contributing to facilities planning for MPFD deployment and publishing findings of neutron sensor modeling for the Transient Reactor Test Facility. He was recognized in 2016 by the U.S. Department of Energy Innovations in Fuel Cycle Research Award. In 2017 he received the Kansas State University Graduate Award for Leadership and Service and was named the Outstanding Graduate Research Assistant in Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering.
