Risk Analysis Engineer
Robert Buell, P.E., is a risk analysis engineer in the Risk Assessment and Management Services Department at Idaho National Laboratory where his focus is on probabilistic risk assessment (PRA). In this capacity, he builds PRA models for the NRC and coordinates various NRC and PRA-related projects. He is also a lead investigator on the Standardized Plant Analysis Risk models (SPAR) project.
Buell has been with INL more than 18 years and has more than 25 years of experience performing Probabilistic Risk Assessments and more than 5 years of experience in nuclear operations and maintenance. He has been a lead analyst for several nuclear reactor accident analyses/investigations and a lead analyst in several fire risk studies. He worked for Westinghouse as an operator at the Naval Reactors Facility. Buell attended Naval Nuclear Power School and Prototype Training. He is a Professional Civil Engineer and Professional Mechanical Engineer, both in Idaho.
