Biography:

​Richard Martineau, Ph.D., is Department Manager for the Fuels Modeling and Simulation division at Idaho National Laboratory and the Deputy Lead for the Virtual Reactor Integration focus area under the DOE Consortium for Advanced Simulation of Light Water Reactors (CASL). As the department manager, Dr. Martineau supports the development of advanced numerical methods, scientific numerical packages, high–performance computing frameworks, and multiphysics analysis tools for nuclear fuel performance modeling and simulation.

Dr. Martineau holds a Ph.D., M.S. and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Idaho. He has more than twenty years of experience leading and conducting computational multiphysics research at INL. His areas of expertise include computational fluid dynamics, nonlinear coupling methods for multiphysics applications, compressible material dynamics, fluid dynamics and heat transfer theory, and thermodynamics. He is a member of the American Nuclear Society and has numerous publications and reports. Outside of work he enjoys competitive marksmanship and hunting.
