Biography:

Paul Bayless is a nuclear engineer in the Nuclear Engineering Methods Development Department at Idaho National Laboratory. In this capacity, he does reactor safety analysis, applying the RELAP5-3D code to projects in Advanced Reactor Technologies (ART) program. He is involved in RELAP5 code assessment, is a RELAP5 training instructor, and performs safety reviews for the Advanced Test Reactor (ATR). He worked on the Loss-of-Fluid Test (LOFT) program, and conducted emergency drills for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). As part of DOE’s International Nuclear Safety Program, he taught engineers in Eastern European countries how to perform reactor safety analysis using the RELAP5 code. Mr. Bayless has 38 years of experience in reactor safety analysis at Idaho National Laboratory. He holds a B.S. and M.S. in nuclear engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is a member of the American Nuclear Society.
