Biography:
John Schroeder is a nuclear engineer in the Risk Assessment and Management Services Department at Idaho National Laboratory. His current focus is on computational support for the NRC’s data collection and evaluation effort, which includes performance trending for systems, components, and initiating events for the commercial nuclear industry, and estimating failure rates for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s (NRC’s) Standardized Plant Analysis Risk (SPAR) models. Previously his work focused on on SPAR model development. He specializes in pressurized water, light water, and boiling water reactor models. He also provides instruction and technical support to NRC staff and others who use the risk models. He has more than 30 years of professional experience in nuclear plant operations, equipment condition monitoring, safety analysis, and probabilistic risk assessment. As a staff engineer, his responsibilities have included heat transfer analysis, thermal hydraulic analysis, and nuclear power plant risk modeling.
