Biography:

​Pete Planchon, Ph.D., is a senior advisor in the Nuclear Science and Engineering division at Idaho National Laboratory. In this capacity, he mentors other staff members and provides support for the Light-Water Reactor Sustainability program and other nuclear energy programs. He focuses on Research and Development which will enable long term safe and economic operation of current Light Water Reactors.

Dr. Planchon has worked at INL and ANL for over 25 years and has experience in many areas associated with nuclear, mechanical and electrical engineering such as reactor system analysis, design, licensing and operations and strategic planning. He is a co-author of several strategic plans involving nuclear energy. Dr. Planchon has a Ph.D. and M.S. in nuclear engineering from the University of Illinois, an MBA from the University of Chicago, and a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri. He is a licensed Professional Engineer, a member and Fellow of the American Nuclear Society, and member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Outside of work he enjoys hiking, golfing and photography.
