Biography:

​David Petti, Sc.D., is the Director of the Very High Temperature Reactor (VHTR) Technology Development Office and a Laboratory Fellow at Idaho National Laboratory. Dr. Petti is a nuclear engineer with over 20 years of experience in nuclear technology development projects. He is currently the Technical Director of the VHTR Technology Development Project. In that role, he oversees all R&D for the project including fuels, graphite, high temperature materials and design and safety evaluation methods.

Dr. Petti is an expert in coated particle fuel technology and in that role he serves as the Chief Scientific Investigator for U.S. in IAEA Coordinated Research Program on Coated Particle Fuel Technology and the U.S. representative to the Generation IV International Forum (GIF) VHTR Fuel and Fuel Cycle Project Management Board. He holds an Sc.D., an M.S. and a B.S. in nuclear engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has been awarded one U.S. patent and is a member of the American Nuclear Society.
