Biography:

Dan Henry is an Advisory Engineer in the Risk Assessment and Management Services Department with more than 25 years of experience in the areas of nuclear safety engineering, probabilistic modeling, statistical analysis, and risk-based issues management. Mr. Henry has extensive experience within the national laboratory environment, as well as with other governmental agencies and commercial utility clients. He is familiar with state-of-the-art techniques in computer modeling, statistical data analysis, and risk assessment.

Dan's past work includes supporting the DOE-sponsored PRA of the Advanced Test Reactor (ATR), performing analysis and modeling of systems, including high- and low-pressure injection systems, reactivity control systems, and electric power systems, and quantified accident sequences, including seismic-, wind-, and flood-induced scenarios, and uncertainty analysis.  Additionally, he has developed and presented technical training courses for Commonwealth Edison analysts and performed an independent audit of their quality verification and self-assessment functions.  As technical lead of the INL's Reliability Engineering Unit, Dan performed reliability analyses for engineering design projects using FMEA, software reliability, and event tree modeling techniques. He managed the low-power/shutdown risk assessment program and the systems reliability study involving the analysis of reliability and availability for a dozen safety-critical systems at every commercial utility in the U.S.  Dan also performed a risk assessment of spent fuel pool activities, and supported the NRC's Risk-informed Inservice Inspection program.

While working at Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site, Dan served as technical lead for the Price-Anderson Amendments Act (PAAA) Reporting group, where he provided leadership and direction for the PAAA Reporting function, performed investigations, and directed the development of procedures and database management processes. He also supported the Issues Management function as co-chairman of the Issues Evaluation Team.

Dan’s outside interests include hiking, climbing, and running.
