Biography:

Brian Durtschi is a design engineer in the Experiment Design Department at Idaho National Laboratory. He has designed loop and drop in experiments, including work testing low-enriched fuels for the High Performance Research Reactor program, designing fueled and non-fueled experiments for the NSUF program, and designing loop experiments for the center loop position for the ATF program. He also has designed and built canal tooling extensively, including systems for reconfiguring loop tests in the canal area. 
Durtschi has mechanical and design engineering experience and taught at the Navy Nuclear Power School in South Carolina. He holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Wyoming. He speaks Russian and enjoys woodworking, reading, gardening, and spending time with family.
