Biography:

Brent Dixon is the lead systems analyst for the Fuel Cycle Technologies Program at Idaho National Laboratory and the Deputy National Technical Director for the Fuel Cycle Options (FCO) Campaign within the DOE Nuclear Technologies Program. He leads several multi-lab tasks for FCO in systems analysis of fuel cycles in equilibrium and transition, economic studies, and technology readiness assessments, including primary responsibility for scope definition, work coordination, and deliverables.  Brent is the U.S. technical lead on several international activities, including the NEA/OECD Working Party on Scientific Issues of the Fuel Cycle, Expert Group on Advanced Fuel Cycle Scenarios (chairman), Expert Group on Back-end Strategies, and IAEA International Project on Innovative Nuclear Reactors and Fuel Cycles (INPRO) collaborative project Roadmaps for a Transition to Globally Sustainable Nuclear Energy Systems.

Dixon received his B.S. in civil engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  He has been with the INL for 37 years  and has experience in technology management and assessment, systems simulation, multi-lab project technical leadership, nuclear, environmental, software systems, engineering analysis, international fuel cycle working groups, Probabilistic Risk Assessment, Systems Engineering, Technology Roadmapping, strategic planning, logistics, and develops reports to Congress.  Dixon has numerous publications, and has been a member of the American Nuclear Society, National Association of Environmental Professionals, American Defense Preparedness Association, and the INEEL Decision Support Coalition.  Outside of work he is a Planning and Zoning Commissioner for the City of Idaho Falls.

​Lead author/editor for a number of DOE reports to Congress (no authors listed on reports).  These reports require consolidation of numerous technical results with translation into unambiguous layman language.  They are thoroughly peer reviewed, then reviewed by DOE for legal, budget (OMB), and policy consistency, and concurred by several Deputy Secretaries before being approved by the Secretary of Energy.  (All are INL PEMP milestones)
