Biography:
​Barry Rabin, Ph.D., is a Material Scientist for the Fuel Fabrication Group at the Idaho National Laboratory. In this capacity Dr. Rabin fabricates and characterizes a new, monolithic, low enriched uranium-molybdenum alloy fuel for the RERTR Program. He is also involved in testing structural materials for the NGNP High Temperature Materials Program.
Dr. Rabin received his Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He then spent 10 years as a Principal Investigator and internationally recognized materials scientist at the Idaho National Laboratory where he conducted basic and applied research in the Metals & Ceramics division. In 1997 he left the INL to co-found a company in advanced magnetic materials, and then served as COO/CTO of venture-backed startup Vapore, Inc. In 2005, Dr. Rabin started a consulting practice in Idaho Falls, and prior to returning to INL he founded Sage Technology & Development to invent new products in the medical device field. Dr. Rabin has more than 80 publications and has 6 issued patents. Outside of work he enjoys outdoor sports and recreation, reading, inventing, gardening, and dog training.
