John William (JW) Peterson, Ph.D.

Biography:

JW Peterson has worked at the INL since March 2011. He obtained Bachelor of Science (with honors), Master of Science in Engineering, and PhD degrees in 2001, 2003, and 2008, respectively, from the University of Texas under advisor G. F. Carey. During his graduate career, John was a NASA Graduate Student Research Fellow, University of Texas Thrust 2000 Graduate Fellow, teaching assistant, guest lecturer, and full lecturer. After spending approximately two years as a Research Associate at the Texas Advanced Computing Center helping to administer some of the largest open science computational resources in the world, he was hired as a Research Scientist in the Fuels Performance (now Modeling and Simulation) department at Idaho National Laboratory, where he is currently a member of the MOOSE Framework development team.  While at INL, John has received both Laboratory Director’s Awards (2011, 2014) and an R&D100 Award (2014) for his work on the MOOSE framework.
