Biography:

Cheradan Fikstad is a data scientist and software engineer for Idaho National Laboratory. She studied physics at University of Alaska-Fairbanks, transferring her senior year to Idaho State University, where she received her bachelor’s degree. She is experienced in various programming languages for use in scientific research and experimentation. She also created a single algorithm to simplify the display systems for nuclear reactor control rooms that help reduce the amount of information overload for operators. Her abilities also include web software and mobile application development, and server administration. She has managed projects for more than 200 clients, trained customers and new employees, written help documents and scripted training videos. Before joining INL in 2015 she was customer support manager, project manager and Programmer II for Governet in Idaho Falls. She participated in INL’s My Amazing Future program, in which eighth-grade girls got to experience the career of a scientist or engineer for a day, and has served as Communications and Outreach lead for INL’s Women’s Resource Group.
