Biography:
Dr. Shrikant C. Nagpure is a battery research engineering scientist for Idaho National Laboratory in the Energy Storage and Transportation Systems department. His expertise is in characterizing and evaluating performance of battery systems for vehicle electrification. As a Ph. D. graduate student he secured a seed grant for his thesis and worked with a multi-disciplinary team of researchers from The Ohio State University, Oak Ridge National Laboratory and National Institute of Standards and Technology. He was involved in design and set-up of In-situ Neutron Depth Profiling tool, Electrochemical and Thermal Lab and Coin-cell Fabrication Lab at The Ohio State University. He has published his work in 15 peer-reviewed journal articles and 2 book chapters which together have more than 200 citations. Before joining the Energy Storage Group at Idaho National Laboratory he was a post-doctoral research associate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory where he conducted research related to battery manufacturing processes including slurry formulation, novel conductive binder, aqueous electrode coating, coating defects and scale-up of new materials. Dr. Nagpure’s specific research at Idaho National Laboratory involves performance evaluation of automotive batteries for United States Advanced Battery Consortium (USABC). His research also includes developing advanced characterization, diagnostic, analysis and data science tools for understanding and evaluating fundamental mechanisms within battery materials and systems to improve their safety, reliability and durability.
