Matt Balderree

Chief UAS Pilot

Research Areas:

Matthew Balderree is the Idaho National Laboratory’s chief pilot for unmanned aircraft systems, working out of the Systems Analyses and Engineering department. He graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor’s unmanned aircraft systems (drones, to most people). He has worked with UAS in the petroleum industry, electrical industry, agriculture and academia. He served in the Air Force for seven years with three deployments to Iraq, which is where he first started working with drones. He will be providing piloting capabilities to the Unmanned Robotics Lab as they continue the development of their UAS program. Matthew will search out and acquire new contracts and interested parties to continue the research that the Unmanned Robotics Laboratory is already doing.
