Biography:
Christy Williams is the National Reactor Innovation Center (NRIC) project manager for the Advanced Construction Technology initiative. This project will use advanced construction techniques to significantly shorten the timeframe and costs related to advanced reactor builds.
Ms. Williams has worked in radioactive liquid separations and cyber security of industrial control systems for critical infrastructure for most of her career. During her 10 years in nuclear operations, she was a lead engineer INTEC. She has also worked in the areas of remotely operable equipment and nuclear safety analysis. She was part of the team that wrote the requirements for the initial implementation of environmental regulations for INTEC. She transitioned to R&D in the area of TRU and Mixed waste handling for geologic storage. Prior to joining NRIC, she was the Project Manager for the uranium polishing lab scale demonstration for High Activity Low Enriched Uranium.
In her time at INL, she has mentored many college and high school students and recently took pleasure in seeing one of her Junior Achievement students, come to the INL after a successful career outside of Idaho. She has been the mentor to 10 years of U.S. Air Force personnel, both majors and lt. colonels, who spend a year at the INL studying industrial control system cybersecurity. She is excited to work in nuclear energy and feels advanced reactors can help solve energy poverty; that she became acutely aware of, while her daughter was living in a remote area of Zambia with the Peace Corp.
